Modern Islamic civilization can be achieved by acting upon the teachings of the Infallible Household of the Prophet (pbuh), says Hoj. Ahmad Marvi.
The statement was made by the chief custodian of Astan Quds Razavi in a gathering of the Iranian lecturers and students at foreign universities.
“A glance at the history of Islam indicates that Islamic civilization has come to being at the initiative of the Infallible Household of the Prophet (pbuh),” he stated.
Hoj. Marvi said a society that has gone astray is unable to build a civilization, further pointing to the Hadith al-Thaqalayn, which quotes the Prophet (pbuh) as saying, ‘Indeed I am leaving two valuable things among you, to which if you hold yourself, you will never astray: the book of Allah and my household, my 'itra (family).’
He went on to say: “Saudi Arabia is the cradle of Islam, the land of the Revelation and home to the Qibla of Muslims, the most sacred site in the world. How can it claim to have an Islamic civilization, while serving the enemies of God?”
The chief custodian of Astan Quds Razavi touched upon the influence of Imam Reza (AS) on Iranian civilization, saying Iran owes much to him for building an Islamic civilization after his presence in the country.
After the presence of Imam Reza (AS) in Iran, many family members of the Imams took trips to the country and left their cultural influence on Iranian people.
Hoj. Marvi further noted that all members of the Infallible Household of the Prophet (AS) enjoyed perfect ethical merits, in particular the Prophet (pbuh) and Imam Reza (AS). “In his trip from Medina to Tous, Imam Reza (AS) took the chance to tell the truth about the oppressors of the time.”
He pointed to another tradition attributed to Imam Reza (AS), saying, “In a tradition on monotheism and its conditions, known as “Selseleh al-Zahab”, Imam Reza (AS) teaches humans that monotheism becomes meaningful in the light of Imamate or Muslim leadership.”
He added: “In this tradition, Imam Reza (AS) denounces the despotic governments of Ma’mun, Bani Abbas and Bani Umayyah, picturing the right path for humanity in the course of history.”
