Over 240 exquisite manuscripts have been added to the manuscripts repository of the libraries, museums and Astan Quds Razavi documentation center since the beginning of this year.
Director of the Center for Manuscripts of Astan Quds Razavi Central Library said that the department has identified 241 manuscripts and 92 volumes of selected lithographic books and added them to the Astan Quds Razavi manuscripts repository by sending assessment groups to Tehran, Qom, Yazd and Mashhad since the beginning of this year.
Seyed Mohammad Reza Fazel Hashemi also referred to the donation and dedication of some valuable Quranic works, saying that “during this period, 15 volumes of books and hand written Qurans and three volumes of lithographic books have been donated to the manuscript collection of Astan Quds Razavi.”
The director of the Center for Manuscripts of the Astan Quds Razavi Central Library added that during this week more than 5,000 manuscripts of Vaziri library of Yazd city were reviewed, controlled and analyzed.
Referring to the necessity for identification, evaluation, registration and cataloging the purchased and donated copies, he said: “Currently, renovating a series of copies that needs to be repaired is underway; therefore, the delivery of copies for the restoration and provision of a digital version and a backup is part of the center's continuous and daily activities.
Hashemi continued: “The book repository of the central library of Astan Quds Razavi, with over 100,000 valuable manuscripts on various subjects such as jurisprudence and principles, literature, astronomy, medicine, etc., is one of the richest treasures of linguistic books in the Muslim world, so the works of many scholars in various scientific fields are kept in this place.”
