Deputy for sacred premises and pilgrims’ affairs at Astan Quds Razavi Seyyed Khalil Monabeti has announced implementation of various appropriate services for the handicapped and elderly pilgrims in Razavi holy shrine.
Pilgrims with various disabilities visit the Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine and it is organization’s duty to provide them with a facilitated pilgrimage, he said.
With respect to the 24/7 presence of pilgrims around the burial chamber, it was not possible for the handicapped and elderly people to have an easy pilgrimage there; to overcome this difficulty, the situation was changed in a way that these people can be carried with the help of their relatives or servants on wheelchairs to the burial chamber.
saying that this plan is conducted every day between 8 and 9 in the morning and 3 and 4 in the afternoon, Monabeti added, handicapped and elderly people entering into the Razavi shrine can reach to the Goharshad Courtyard on their wheelchair and have their visit to the Razavi burial chamber with the help of Razavi servants.
In the past, there were some problems for the pilgrimage of the elderly and disabled people using wheelchairs because stairs in different porticos had created some obstacles for their movement, the deputy said.
In order to provide the elderly, handicapped and disabled war veterans with a better pilgrimage, stairs in porticos and courtyards ending in the burial chamber were omitted and they were replaced with ramps, according to the order issued by the organization’s custodian.
He concluded his remarks by saying that porticos and courtyards equipped with ramps include Azadi Courtyard and Dar al-Sorour, Dar al-Salam, Dar al-Siyadah, and Dar al-Hofaz Porticos
