Behdad Salimi and Ali Hashemi, Iran and World’s Weightlifting Champions, after dedicating their medals to Astan Quds Razavi met and had a conversation with the Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi.
According to Astan News, Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, pointed to the position and significance of ethics in sport and stated, “Mr. Salimi considers his championship in sports fields as the favor of the Almighty God and the Infallible Imams (A.S.); another great championship and victory is in the field of the fight against the ego.”
Referring to Ali Hashemi's action in refusing to handshake with the Medal distributor woman on the champion’s platform, he said, “The character and pious behavior of Mr. Hashemi, while receiving the medal symbolizes the Iranian youth's Islamic culture and personality. Mr. Hashemi became famous with this act, a fame favored by the God.”
“In addition to the sporting championship, in the field of spirituality you are also a great champion” he said “Protecting these outstanding qualities is very important and valuable”.
“The God Almighty is paying attention to all His servants, but he gives special attention to some. A special task has to be done to obtain God's special privilege. The action of you two dear champions in dedicating championship medals to Imam Reza’s (A.S.) Holy Shrine was a special work, which will also bring God's special look” he commented.
“The Korah spirit means a human being considers his successes as a result of his power and competence, but the anti- Korah spirit means considering the ruling of the divine power over the victories and thank God you two dears consider your successes from the Almighty God and this is a great spiritual capital” Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Raeisi expressed.
