Goharshad Intl. Award introducing role model for Muslim women

The 4th Goharshad International Award, slated for July 10, intends to introduce role models for Muslim women in line with starting new cultural trends.

Ali Sarvari, the secretary of this year’s international event made the announcement, saying: “The fourth Goharshad Intl. Award will be held at 10:00 at Quds Hall of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) with the Leader’s representative to Khorasan Razavi, chief custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, as well as senior political, social and cultural elites in attendance.”

Pointing to the Leader’s seven-article charter on guidelines for better administration of Astan Quds Razavi, Sarvari said the fourth article of the charter places emphasis on promoting Quranic sciences and way of conduct of the Infallible Household of the Prophet (pbuh).

Promoting Quranic sciences, Ahl al-Bayt school of thought

“One way for promoting Quranic sciences and the school of thought of the Infallible Household of the Prophet (pbuh) is introducing exemplary Christian and Muslim women such as Mary and Bithiah, Khadijah (SA), Fatemeh Zahra (SA) and Masumah (SA) as perfect role models for modern-day women,” he stated.
To promote and publicize Quranic sciences and the school of thought of Ahl al-Bayt or the Infallible Household of the Prophet (pbuh), with an emphasis on Imam Reza’s way of life, Astan Quds Razavi has organized Goharshad Intl. Award to introduce eight elite women with outstanding achievements in various specialized fields. According to Sarvari, this year’s event, to be held during the birth anniversaries of Imam Reza (AS) and Hazrat Masumah (SA) will award four Iranian and four foreign women.

Elite women’s network

Sarvari said the festival has planned for networking the elite and pious women, adding “We expect the winners of Goharshad Intl. Award to establish permanent relations with the Secretariat. This festival intends to promote the culture of generosity among women, especially young adults, introduce various aspects of Imam Reza’s ways of life, publicize honorary services for Imam Reza (AS) anywhere across the globe, and transfer generous experiences to other women through the philanthropic network of Goharshad Intl. Award.”

Eight Pillars of Goharshad Intl. Award

Elsewhere, Sarvari stated that generosity is an outstanding aspect of services of public utility that encompasses such pillars as “devotion and martyrdom”, “resistance and Islamic awakening”, “education, scientific studies and research”, “art, culture and mass media”, “endowment and charity affairs”, “medical affairs”, and “management and entrepreneurship”. “These are also the criteria for selecting the winners of the festival.”

According to him, volunteers are introduced by international organizations as well as domestic and foreign cultural and social institutions. “The jury will select the winners based on the achievements in eight areas. Winners are selected from among people with different religions. This is to diversify our definition of generosity.”
It is worth mentioning that during the past three rounds of Goharshad Intl. Award, 24 elite women from Iran, Nigeria, Kenya, Iraq, Turkey, Russia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Britain, Tanzania and Thailand received the festival’s awards.
