A Polish young man converted to Islam at Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine in the lunar month of Rajab. Imam Reza (AS) is the eights Imam of Shia Muslims whose holy shrine is situated in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad.
Referring to the main motive behind his conversion to Islam at the end of this conversion ceremony, he stressed, “I studied the Arabic language and literature and this major made me familiar with Islam”. The Pole chose Reza as his new Muslim name.
“My personal research on Islam started six years ago and it was words of Sunni Muslims that attracted me to Islam for the first time; however, this sect of Islam could not provide answers of my questions and I found Shia Islam more reasonable and beautiful.
Reza further noted, real Islam must be found in Shia sect as it retells realities and gives an opportunity to discuss them. It answers questions and keeps room for religious discussions as well.
Pointing to notable similarities between Shia Islam and Catholic Christianity, he added, in addition to the similarities of rituals and symbols, the two sects are similar in terms of number of infallible Imams, which is equal to the number of Jesus Christ’s apostles.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he stressed that religion is considered a personal issue in Poland and everyone is free to have his own religion. He also mentioned, I’m really happy to have this beautiful and new experience in Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine.
During the ceremony, Seyed Mohammad Javad Hashemi Nejad, manager of Non-Iranian Pilgrims’ Affairs of Astan Quds Razavi said, as this conversion finds its roots in researches and studies, it is really valuable. He also mentioned that God has promised to provide a peaceful heaven for those who have chosen the right way freely.
He went on to say, when some people convert to Islam from the so-called cradle of modernization, it shows that the West’s attempts to portray a false and unrealistic image of Islam have failed.
We are so happy over this conversion and the management will do its best to supply all intellectual and spiritual needs of these neophytes.
