600 Azeri pilgrims pay a visit to Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine

Aram Albaros has paid a visit to Mashhad in the company of a caravan of 600 Sunni and Shia pilgrims coming from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the northern neighbor of Iran. It is the second Shia majority state after Iran whose people love the Infallible Household of the Prophet (pbuh) and Imam Reza (AS).

As part of his career, Aram visits the holy shrine six times a year.
"It is the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) that attracts me every time. During all these years, my trips to Mashhad have never been boring. There is no pleasure beyond pilgrimage for me."

According to him, the Shia Muslims in Azerbaijan are among the devoted followers of Imam Reza (AS), and "many of them donate all their belongings in the cause of Imam Reza (AS) because they have seen miracles and favors from him and from his descendants."

“With his special affection, Imam Reza (AS) attracts these pilgrims and captures their hearts."

On the eagerness of Azeri pilgrims to visit Mashhad, Albaros said: "Many of us visit Mashhad for love, longing, devotion and penchant for being among Imam Reza's pilgrims, but our thirst to pilgrimage never quenches."

He further noted that the majority of the pilgrims take the trip despite financial problems and restrictions imposed by the Azeri government, "but they never complain of the hardships."

The Azeri pilgrim went on to say: "Our trip to Mashhad is merely for pilgrimage and upon arrival in Mashhad we only tour the holy shrine and mausoleums. This is an honor for us."

Albaros is of the opinion that increased wholehearted communication with the Infallible Household of the Prophet (pbuh) will result in more obedience and empathy. "This communication is in no way unilateral, and we will definitely enjoy their attentions and favors."
