Astan Quds Razavi, the body in charge of Imam Reza (AS) Holy Shrine has implemented some cultural projects that increase its total cultural space by one million square meters, Astan News reported.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of some cultural projects at Imam Reza (AS) Cultural and Educational Camp Garden, Hoj. Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, the general custodian of Imam Reza (AS) Holy Shrine, said big steps have been taken to offer more and better services to the pilgrims of the Holy Shrine.
“Over 10,000 groups of pupils, university students, and religious delegates visit the shrine city of Mashhad for pilgrimage every year. AQR has planned to implement programs for boosting their religious knowledge and for rendering cultural services to these groups of pilgrims,” he said.
“By average, each pilgrim of the Holy Shrine stays for three days and a half in the shrine city of Mashhad. AQR has planned to implement some programs for the precious time of these pilgrims at hours outside the shrine to boost their cultural awareness and their religious knowledge,” said the general custodian of Imam Reza (AS) Holy Shrine.
Pointing to 30 million pilgrims visiting the shrine city of Mashhad every year, he said: “The figure is being increased day by day, so it is necessary for the officials in charge to take steps for preservation and development of cultural spaces in this megalopolis to deserve the title of the spiritual capital of Iran and cultural capital of the world of Islam.”
Also known as Bildar Garden, Imam Reza (AS) Cultural and Educational Camp Garden is 180 ha in size and located in the resort area of Torqabeh in Mashhad. The garden was in limited use for years until it was developed into a cultural and educational camp garden upon an order by Hoj. Raeisi, the general custodian of Imam Reza (AS) Holy Shrine.
The second phase of this camp garden was inaugurated in a ceremony, in which Mashhad Mayor Mohammad Reza Kalaei. Brig. General Yaqub Ali Nazari the commander-in-chief of Imam Reza (AS) IRGC forces were also present. The second phase put sports halls, dormitories, self-service, etc. ready for use at this camp garden.
Inauguration of several other cultural projects such as Mahdiabad Sports Center on the suburbs of Mashhad, development plan of Shahid Rajaei Sports Center, Imam Reza (AS) 12-classroom School in Sarakhs, Gonabad Library, Chehel-Cheragh vocational training workshops in Bushehr and Ahvaz were also displayed through video conference at the event.
Moreover, concurrent with the 40th anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution, 40 new books published by Beh Nashr Publication of Astan Quds Razavi were unveiled in the presence of the general custodian of Imam Reza (AS) Holy Shrine. “The Dream of Aq Tarim”, “The Plain of the Rebels”, “Wrong People”, “The Blade and Crown”, “Economic Rent”, “Subordinate Political Culture and Authoritarianism in Iran”, “Government Agent Barazandeh”, “An Authentic Story in 22 Volumes”, … were some of the latest books on Islamic Revolution released by the AQR’s publisher.
“Beh Nashr Publication of Astan Quds Razavi is the largest publisher in eastern Iran, which has established its sales offices across the country in between 2016 and 2018 to help easy and fast access of people to the cultural products of AQR,” said Hossein Saidi, directing manager at Beh Nashr. “In order to promote the culture of reading books, this institute intends to turn its bookstores into cultural centers. To that end, in the near future, Beh Nashr central bookstore and cultural products center located on Imam Khomeini Ave. will be developed into a book café for women.”
